Central California is among the most enviably scenic and highly desired places to live in this nation, but the last week has seen us battered by five days of rain, driven by winds that often topped 35mph.

And that’s not much fun.

It’s weeks like this that our thoughts turn to happier days, like the forthcoming Summer. After weeks of snow storms and ice you can start planning vacations and perhaps even pick out a cruise.

Veterans of cruising will tell you the experience is not to be missed, and those who sail with Royal Caribbean know that better than most. The ships are superb, the crew’s skills are flawless and the whole experience will live in your dreams until you give in to the temptation and book a return.

Is Memphis finally losing its tune?

For decades the musical hub of this wondrous country has been Memphis, Tennessee. The mere mention of Elvis proves that. But lately there has been a new challenger in town – Branson, Missouri.

This tiny town of just 6,100 people has been draining Memphis’ title as musical capital for several years, and Branson vacation packages are now a big business – especially among country music fans, with such names as Ann-Margret, Gladys Knight, Barbara Mandrell, Wayne Newton, Charley Pride and Andy Williams now calling it home.
