A lot of people think having a pond is the height of indulgence – long, lazy evenings sipping mint juleps by a vibrant arena of water that’s teaming with colorful, exotic fish. Yes, that’s the life.

A pond is ongoing work, with lives literally at stake if you slow down on the job. There are lily pads and duckweed to contend with, plus aerating the water. And don’t forget all the fun of keeping your pets – and next door’s cat – away from the edge.

Use your horse sense and save

For those so blessed as to live in the more rural areas of this glorious nation, this is a big time of year – Show season. If you have the room and the inclination, touring the shows with your horses is one glorious way to indulge your whole Summer.

The snag is, of course, horses are not cheap to run. And if you really want to stand a chance in the shows you need all the gear – which is even more cash.

But not all stores mark their prices so high – if you really know where to look you can get riding boots and the rest of the requisite tack at quite reasonable prices.

To bask in the diminishing rays of a warm summer sun after a day among horses and friends is a fine way to live. But to do all that and save money is quite close to addictive. Go do some shopping, and you’ll soon have cause to agree…

All dog lovers need less crunchy air

Dogs are wonderful – Loving, friendly, endlessly loyal…Man’s bond with them may well be the finest idea the human race ever had. But they do have one or two down-sides – A big one being all the dry skin they can put in the air.

Ever seen a dog indulge in a really energetic scratch while the sun was behind them? The amount of debris they lose is horrendous. And you’re breathing that.

Packing Fido in ten yards of Saran Wrap is not a good plan, but a well made air filter can make an amazing difference to what’s in your lungs.

They’re not expensive – for the kind of love a dog gives you, they’re cheap at whatever the price. So go check out some samples and take a deep breath…

Diet pill users can lose more than just weight

It’s the same every year – the media and home-shopping channels are now filled with high-profit ways to make you lose weight. Diet pills are one popular option – but one tiny flaw they don’t tell you is the number of lawsuits those things have now caused.

While it’s true that some diet pills can help you burn fat, most cause symptoms that are not worth the gain – Some diet pills side effects have included liver damage, heart attacks, strokes, and even [in a few cases] death.

However, the news is not all bad – there are diet pills that have been scientifically tested and proven to create actual weight-loss, without leaving you trapped in the bathroom…or worse.

Personally, I still maintain the best weight-loss program’s a puppy. They’re superb exercise, they never go stale, you don’t need to buy more every month, and even the best diet pills can’t adore you.

But it’s your call, so you get to choose – read the reviews to make sure you’re safe, then take it from there…and good luck!
