The diet pill business in this country is vast. Last year, just one brand – Alli, scored $156-million in three months. And there are hidden dangers;
The chemical compound phentermine was approved for diet pill use by the FDA in 1959, and has since grown to be the single most popular method of weight loss. With reports of users dropping 20lbs in a month, prescriptions are at an all-time record, and thousands of users now swear it’s the cure.
But it’s also an amphetamine. As such, there are drawbacks. You might lose some weight, but you’ll also face risks such as increased heart rate, hypertension, irregular heartbeat, tremors, insomnia, psychotic episodes, diarrhea, constipation – and even severe weight gain.
And that’s just the highlights – there are several more scares.
My advice? Don’t get a pill, get a puppy. He’ll love you forever, keep you healthy and fit, and a bottle of snake-oil in pill form can’t lick your face.
If you have a weight problem, do some research. But you can be sure – amphetamine is one thing you don’t need to eat.
