Coming from a country that’s much further North and surrounded by oceans, a Californian winter is a different beast from the ones served at home. Winter begins in December and ends in mid-March. Twelve short weeks, a few splashes of rain and it’s over. In England an electric blanket is a basic essential. Here, it’s unheard of in most of the states. The ways in which this country astounds me are legion. The vast difference is weather is simply one of the more bizarre.
If owning a blanket doesn’t help you feel warm, owning this country certainly should. Especially after November. Feel proud of your part in this wondrous nation. Trust an outside observer – you’ve every reason to be.
